In early 2022, His Excellency Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture, issued Decision No. 334 reorganizing Dar Alkutub Al Qatariya, granting it legal status and financial and administrative independence under the Ministry of Culture. This decision outlined the library’s objectives: to collect and preserve both historical and contemporary intellectual works, particularly those related to national heritage, the Arab world, and Arab-Islamic civilization.
The library aims to make these resources accessible to individuals and organizations, serving the public and providing loans to all community segments. This mission aligns with the library’s vision of embedding books within Qatari society and reviving its cultural influence both locally and internationally.
